This month we're taking to the cloud - and in one case taking back from the cloud - with a trio of articles looking at the state of play in the industry. First, 11:11 Systems' Ben Coleman makes the case for why wholesale partnerships are the hidden force reshaping the cloud landscape. "Following the UK–US Tech Prosperity Deal signed in September 2025, the UK will build around 100 new data centres by 2030. This will have a transformative impact on both cloud services and wholesale partnerships, he explains. "The future of cloud will be built on the wholesale managed service provider model." Read Ben's article for more on how MSPs are set to reshape the cloud in the years to come.
For Insight's Lee Wilkinson a successful, secure cloud adoption plan depends on "building a system that delivers business value with consistency and reliability," and in this issue he gives us a four-point roadmap to achieving just that. We also have a timely note of cloud caution from Pulsant's Mark Lewis, who considers the trend towards UK-sovereign cloud localisation and data repatriation and the benefits it can offer UK businesses: "As cloud strategies mature, "bringing data home" is becoming less about nostalgia for on-premises infrastructure and more about governance reality, because boards want the organisation to demonstrate control under pressure." Is it now time to keep the cloud local?
Finally this month we're pleased to announce that our finalists for the 2026 Network Computing award have now been determined by your nominations and voting has opened to decide who will take home this year's trophies at our awards ceremony in May, so please visit NC Awards website to make your choices count!
