Welcome to the April edition of the newsletter, where AI and the Cloud are looming large on the horizon. First, Quantum's Skip Levens gives us three best practice principles for getting to grips with artificial intelligence. As Skip explains in his article, "AI is only as good as the data it is built on and organisations looking to scale their AI ambitions will need to ensure they initiate the solid data foundation needed to achieve effective AI outcomes."
That's followed by an opinion piece from Sam Bainborough at Vertiv that approaches AI from a different perspective, analysing how the increasing demand for AI applications is impacting data centres and their design. "The adoption of specialised processors tailored for AI tasks has unleashed a tidal wave of power requirements, compelling data centre operators to recalibrate their strategies towards energy efficiency," according to Sam. Can data centres be designed to prioritise sustainability and efficiency in an an AI-driven era? Read Sam's article to find out.
We also have a cloud forecast for April from Guy Warren, CEO at ITRS, who takes a closer look at the security risks that can arise from adopting cloud services, offering us four key steps to bolster an organisation's defence, while Brian Sibley at Espria explains how scalable cloud service solutions can provide the ideal IT infrastructure for SMBs.
And finally a reminder that voting is now open for the 2024 Network Computing Awards! The awards will be taking place on May 23rd in central London, and you now have until May 13th to cast your votes online at https://networkcomputingawards.co.uk to determine this year's winners. Good luck!
